✨New: With the August 11th update of the Zipline App on Android and Apple devices, the mobile app will support biometric login. Check out how to enable it in the article 📚 How to Log In to Zipline.
Zipline supports signing in with fingerprint or facial recognition on select devices, giving you instant access and a faster way to log in. This is optional, and only available on personal devices. You can always sign in with your username and password instead.
📚 In this article, we'll cover:
Compatible Devices
What devices does Biometric Login work on?
Personal devices only Biometric login only shows up if your device is set to Personal, not Shared.
iPhone and iPad
Works on iPhone 5s and newer with Touch ID, and iPhone X and newer with Face ID
Needs iOS 11 or newer (the Zipline app itself needs iOS 15.6+, so this is already covered on any device that can run the app)
Older iPads and iPod touch models without Face ID or Touch ID can't use this feature
Android phones and tablets
Works on Android 9 or newer, if your device has a fingerprint scanner or face unlock
Company Devices (Zebra, Honeywell, etc)
Most Zebra, Honeywell, and similar work scanners don't have a fingerprint scanner or face camera built in. If you use one of these devices, you'll sign in with your username and password.
Troubleshooting Biometric Login
Why you might be asked for your password
You might see this even if you've used biometric login before. Common reasons:
Your device doesn't have a fingerprint scanner or face camera
You haven't turned on Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint unlock in your device's settings yet
Your device doesn't have a screen lock (PIN, pattern, or password) set up. Your phone needs one before it can use biometric login
Biometric login failed a few times in a row, so your device turned it off for a bit to stay secure
Your device was just restarted and hasn't been unlocked once with your PIN or password yet
Your device is set to Shared instead of Personal
Your device needs a software update before it can use this feature
Check if Biometric Login is turned on
Turning on biometric login:
Turn on Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or biometric unlock in your device's settings
Open Zipline and sign in with your username and password
Go to Profile, then Manage Face ID/Biometric
Turn on Face ID/Biometric sign in
If biometric login still does not work after these steps, contact Zipline Support and let us know your device type and model.
